Doug and I have been showing Welsh Springer Spaniels since 1992. We have travelled to many shows and made some good friends along the way. Our dogs have been consistent winners at Breed,Group and Show level at All Breeds shows under Australian and International judges. Merlin,Dhugal, Merry and Tolkien have all been Best of Breed winners at Royal shows and Pagan,Heather,Dhugal,Tilly and Tolkien have been Class in Show winners at Specialty shows. Tolkien was Best in Show at the NSW Welsh Springer Spaniel Club show in 2006. Prior to his untimely death he won Best of Breed at Melbourne Royal 2008.
Malory was Best Puppy in Breed at Adelaide Royal Show in 2008.
In March 2009 I had an unfortunate accident and spent considerable time recuperating. During that time showing and breeding was "on hold" at Lornelane.
Despite this, 2010 was a success with Lornelane The Pendragon (Spenser) gaining his Australian Champion title with numerous class in group wins and 3 Runner Up Best in Group along the way. Our Malory (Cobcroft Camelot Quest) co owned with Gloria Haynes and bred by Sylvia Brackman and Meg (Lornelane Faerie Fantasy) owned by P&L. Griffiths and J&S. Nickolds in South Australia also gained their titles, Malory winning well at both Specialty and All breeds shows. Congratulations!
2010 saw the debut of Lornelane Simply Wicked and Lornelane Totally Wicked (Duncan and Delilah) in the showring. Both promising puppies with Duncan notching up some quite exciting wins.
Easter 2011 and Duncan and Delilah were Reserve Challenge dog and bitch from the Junior class at Sydney Royal Easter Show. Delilah then went on to take Runner Up Best of Breed. Judge was Ms. S. Lex (Canada).
Two days later at the Sporting Spaniels Society Show under Finnish judge, Ms.L.Karkas, Duncan was 1st in the Junior Dog class and went on to take Best of Breed. Not to be outdone Delilah went 1st in the Junior Bitch class and then BCC and Runner Up Best of Breed. Duncan also won the Walter Seymour Best Rarer Spaniel Gundog award.
Due to other commitments, our show schedule was limited towards the end of 2011 but Duncan and Delilah continued to bring home more then their share of awards.
2012 has meant a move from our long time home in the Gloucester valley to the Camden Haven area. We plan on getting back to the show scene in the latter part of the year.
2013. Duncan is now a multiple Best in Group winner and was Runner Up Best Of Breed at Sydney Royal Easter Show. Delilah was retired for maternal duties and produced 7 puppies to Sup. Ch. Goldmaid Red Rocket. One of the boys, Lornelane Not Rocket Science (Albert) owned by Debbie Meagher has already made his presence known in the show ring and is the winner of the the Welsh Springer Spaniel Rising Star competition run by Dogzonline. In South Australia, Ch. Lornelane Faerie Fantasy owned by the Nickolds and Griffith partnership was Bitch Challenge at Adelaide Royal. Judge was Mr. Edh from Sweden. But the high point of the year was Ch. Lornelane Lady On Stage..Torri.. (Fitzgerald/MacLean) winning BEST IN SHOW at Dorrigo Agricultural Society Show. Judge was Mr. J. Forbes.
2014. What a great start! Duncan Best of Breed Sydney Royal Easter Show against Best in Show winning competition under judge Mr.Claudio De Giuliani (Italy). At the Sporting Spaniel Society Show (judge Ms.Kari Granaas Hansen, Norway) Ch. Lornelane Lady On Stage went Best of Breed with Duncan DCC and Runner Up. Following in Duncans footsteps she then went on to win the Walter Seymour Best Rarer Spaniel Award. In December Duncan gained his Grand Ch. title with multiple Best in Group and Runner Up in Group awards to his credit. 2015 has seen Duncan taking out Best of Breed at the Sporting Spaniel Society Show under Irish judge Mrs. A.McCarry Carroll and although very lightly shown he did bring home some Best in Group and class in group awards. His son Goldmaid Rafferty Rules was more consistently shown and delighted us all with gaining his Australian Championship title at 22 months of age. This included class in group wins , a class in show win and a Runner Up in Group win. Very pleased with the way this young man is maturing.
